Decorating your ballroom dance or skate costumes with lace. It’s a beautiful way to create a repeating rhinestone pattern. It can be feminine, striking or nearly invisible when covered with heavy rhinestoning. And adding or removing lace is an easy way to change the look of your ballgown.

To show you how to decorate your dress with lace, I dip into the Sew Like A Pro™ stash. I figured, what the heck, if I’m editing video for the sewing school, I might as well give you a sample.
I put my video editing skills to the test – complete with super high speed clips so you can watch four complete Sew Like A Pro™ training videos condensed down to only 12 minutes….. It’s SEW exciting!
But wait… I use glue; it’s no fun sewing lace on. I sewed lace for years and one day woke up and declared, “What a waste of time!” I’ve been gluing ever since and it’s genius. Fast. Simple. Clean. Precise.
Which glue you might ask? Well, the awesome, toxic kinds of glue, of course: E-6000 or Goop. For more details on what kind of glue is best, visit my post on rhinestone glue. What’s good for rhinestones is good for lace. (Keep your windows open and the fan blowing! No joke. This stuff is noxious.)
If you are wondering where to buy lace for your dance and skate costumes, check out my list of dance fabric stores around the world. You can also cut your own lace applique motifs using a hot cutting tool and lace fabric.
